SINARC at the Lebanese American University offers courses in Arabic language and culture. These include all levels of Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), Lebanese dialect, one-on-one Arabic courses for all levels, and online Arabic language courses. In our program, Arabic language learning is enriched by extracurricular activities that engage the foreign language learners in Lebanon’s various cultural aspects in particular, and the Arabic culture in general. Cultural activities include weekly lectures delivered in Arabic on topics related to Arab and Lebanese politics, history, art, religion, archaeology and society. Additionally, students take part in a series of excursions to historical, cultural and tourist sites throughout Lebanon. In an attempt to enforce and speed up the learning of Arabic, SINARC assigns Lebanese language partners to the foreign learners with whom they spend two hours daily after class periods. Besides providing foreign learners with an opportunity to practice their Arabic, the Lebanese language partners help them adjust to the local culture.
